Gifts for soccer coaches that actually get used

What makes a good coach gift

Coaches are hard to shop for because the team usually gives one gift together, on a budget, and it has to say thank you from everyone. The gifts that land best share three things: they're used every day, they nod to the sport, and they're easy for a whole team to chip in on.

A sports air freshener checks all three. It hangs from the rear-view mirror on every drive to the field, it's printed like a real soccer ball, and it costs less than a team pizza.

Our pick: the Goooooooal soccer freshener

The HookUp Air soccer freshener is printed like a black-and-white match ball with the call every coach knows — “Goooooooal” — across the front, and HookupAir.com on the back. It carries our signature Black Gold scent, is twice as thick as a standard hanging air freshener at 5 mm, and keeps its scent for up to 4 weeks depending on airflow.

Give a 2-pack for one coach, or a 4-pack so they can keep one in the car and one in the kit bag.

Giving as a whole team

For a team gift, a 10-pack works two ways: give the coach the full pack as a season's supply, or split it so the coach and every assistant gets one. Clubs kitting out a whole league can find 25-packs and 50-packs on Amazon.

Pair it with a card signed by every player, a team photo, or a game ball signed by the squad, and you have a thank-you that costs little and means a lot.

When to give it

The end-of-season party or banquet is the classic moment. Mid-season works too — right before a big tournament or rivalry game, when the gift doubles as a good-luck charm for the drive there.
